Name: Pang San Zhou ’23
Year: 2023 spring
Weight: loose, maocha
Details:
A little note of this year PSZ, I have a feeling that this was a good spring for thai teas, all three, incl. mind_switch and dark chocolate, are super tasty, pure and genuine gushu teas.
I named this year spring Pang San Zhou ‘spring drops’ as its character feel like refreshing life giving spring rain drops.
tasting notes:
fresh pure maocha taste with great nutty apricot taste
pretty thick liqour tea soup and this is the gushu feel when tea is almost oily texture on the tongue
veeery good afterstaste I must say
pure bitter strong flavour, don’t push too hard until you like strong bitterness
bitter almonds in the aftertaste
brewed in Duchek’s rye teapot brings out all the qualities this pure spring maocha, try to brew in some neutrally effecting tea vessels, like made of porcelain or zhuni clay
The tea leaves comes from a tiny valley with two very steep slopes, at the bottom there is flowing a mountain stream and at one upper part of the slopes are clutching old tea trees, the slope is so steep that is hard to climb. In the shade of the mountain with other trees growing these tea leaves make buds. Downhill are two old baracks like buildings, not much inhabited these days telling that there was a thriving tea factory producing tea for chinese market in the past. In the behind hills are left wild hidding tea trees but as I happened to know those are a state reserve forest and tea leaves can’t be plucked/harvested there.
