Name: Pang San Zhou ’23
Year: 2023 spring
Weight: 357 grams cake
Details:
A fresh bing/cake Pang San Zhou from the previous spring. A very pure feeling when drinking it and clear/straight flavours that do not pretend anything but simply they represent the gushu or ancient tea trees character. The tea is a bit lighter than mind/switch of the same year but this reflects the age of the tea trees. Also there is a kind of more sweet tones in PSZ too, more like exotic fruit coolness. I really like this year spring and my friend Alex says the quality of processing of Veian teas improved each year since 2020 when I met him for the first time.
I have mentioned that it is lighter and this does not mean in any sense it is worse or inferior to it. I gives ‘less juice’ .
Just yesterday I developed this theory of older tea trees are the more ‘juice’ they give. The 2023 mind/switch is pressed hard indeed but if you compare it to this 2023 PSZ then you will see that its pressing is not so tight, still hard although. Both cakes were pressed the same pressure.
In my many years experience of dismantling puerh bings I found out that more jungle the tea is the more tight the pressing is. I believe this is due to the ‘juice’ that is squeezed out during the pressing of the cakes.
