Name: Gushu Mengku Dongguo ’20
Year: 2020 spring
Weight: 357 grams pressed cake
Country of origin: China, Yunnan province
Details:
This tea is produced by the same producer as the Xifu tea, a Guang Dong tea company call Gu Dao Wen Cha Tea. I selected this tea as it is a good example of excelent Mengku gushu puerh tea. It is of course not Bing Dao but it has its feel, the menthol cooling effect at the background going on for long beside the typical strong bitterness.
There is only a cake and half for having to get to know a bit another region good gushu puerh tea. The tea at the start is a bit shy but gradually shows its true face and strenght.
Dongguo is located in the western half of Mengku Tea Mountain, with an altitude of 1,750 meters. Abundance of forest makes this place very ecological and suitable for thriving gushu tea trees. They say that the Mengku large-leaf variety was brought from Xishuangbanna to Mengku more than 300 years ago.
